ICEP 2008 held in Jakarta

Sponsored jointly by China Electricity Council(CEC) and Indonesian Electrical Power Society(MKI), Indonesia-China Electrical Power Equipment and Technology Conference & Exhibition 2008(ICEP2008) was held from May 15 to 17, 2008 at Jakarta Convention Center. The event was officially declared open by Indonesia’s Minster of Energy and Mineral Resources, Dr. Purnomo Yusgiantoro. Mr. Ali Herman Ibrahim, Chairman of MKI, Mr. Wang Yonggan, Secretary-General of CEC and Mr. Fang Qiuchen, Minister Counsellor from Chinese Embassy in Indonesia delivered welcome speeches at the opening ceremony. More than 200 delegates from Chinese exhibiting companies, Indonesian power companies and associations attended the ceremony and conference. 50 Chinese electric equipment and engineering companies displayed their equipment and technologies at the three-day exhibition which covered an area of 1600 sqm.

Electric power industry is one of the major and fast-growing sectors for bilateral economic cooperation. With strong support from the Chinese government, Chinese companies are participating actively in the “Ten Thousand Megawatts Fast-Track Program” initiated by the Indonesian government. ICEP 2008 presented another platform for power companies from both countries to improve understanding and enhance cooperation.
