| Two Chinese Exhibitions Held in Jakarta |

On May 29, 2009, “China Guangxi Product Exhibition 2009” and “The 4th China Machinery and Electronic Products Exhibition” opened at Jakarta International Expo-Kemayoran fairground. Chinese Ambassador to Indonesia Ms. Zhang Qiyue, Minister Counselor (Economic and Commercial) Mr. Fang Qiuchen, Deputy Secretary-General of People’s Government of Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, Mr. Du Xin, Director-General of Department of Commerce of Guangxi, Mr. Liu Shusen, Vice President of China Chamber of Commerce for Import & Export of Machinery & Electronic Products, Mr Wang Guiqing, Director-General of the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia, Mr. Ansari Bahari, Special Assistant to the Trade Minister, Mr. Widharma R.D, representatives from business associations and Indonesian-Chinese societies were present at the openning ceremony.
Ambassador Zhang Qiyue indicated in her speech that China is the 3rd largest trading partner of Indonesia while Indonesia is China’s 4th largest trading partner among ASEAN members. In times of the current global economic downturn, both China and Indonesia should put a new premium to the other country, make more effort to expand bilateral cooperation while trying to stimulate domestic demand, and explore new business opportunities and new partnerships. China is firmly opposed to trade protectionism. We wish to work with our Indonesian counterparts to improve communication and find more opportunities for economic and trade cooperation. Ambassador Zhang appreciated the opening of the two Chinese exhibitions at the right time and hoped they will not only provide an effective platform for business negotiations, but will also enable businesses from the two countries to facilitate exchange and communication in their effort to establish closer partnerships.
Director-General of the Ministry of Industry of Indonesia, Mr. Ansari Bahari expressed his hope that the two exhibitions will not only be a place to present Chinese products, but also a platform for Indonesian manufacturing companies to obtain information of the latest development of industrial technology. He also hoped the exhibitions will serve as a bridge for mutual exchanges and help improve product quality and technical standard of the Indonesian mechanical industry with a view to strenghthen its international competitiveness.
The two exhibitions will last for three days. “China Guangxi Product Exhibition 2009” attracts 82 exhibitors and presents metals, minerals, chemicals, foodstuffs, native produce and animal by-products, texitle and garments, light industrial products, arts and crafts, pharmaceutical and health products, machinery and elctronic products over 100 booths. “The 4th China Machinery and Electronic Products Exhibition” displays construction machinery, automobile and motorcycle spareparts, electric bicycles, hardware and sanitation, engines, household electrical appliances, consumer electronic products in nearly 200 booths.
